Some hotels are defined by their architecture. Others by their view. Here, the place itself is the experience — and the interior’s role is to welcome guests into it.

Accommodation at Taronga Zoo offers something rare in a city: the chance to wake up close to nature, in the heart of Sydney. For Norman Kings, that set the tone of the whole project. The furniture had to feel at home in this environment — warm, tactile, unhurried.

The result is a bespoke package of 1,006 pieces for 62 rooms. Nothing was chosen from a catalogue: every item was designed for this interior, and every item was made to belong with the others.

The Collection

Designed around how guests live in a room.

Rather than a list of products, the package was planned around the moments of a stay — arriving, resting, getting ready and spending time together.

Wardrobes

Storage that keeps the room uncluttered and makes unpacking feel effortless.

Headboards

The anchor of the bed wall, framing the most personal part of the room.

Vanities

Marble and timber made to handle water and daily care with ease.

Tables, seating & sofas

The living side of the room — to work, share a meal or simply sit and look out.

The Project

Seventy days. One thousand and six pieces.

A fixed opening date leaves no room for delay. All six furniture types were produced side by side, checked at every stage and shipped as ready-to-install room sets.
